Job Type: Permanent, full time

Hours: 0700am – 1700pm, Monday – Friday (plus 2x Saturdays/month – paid extra)

We are looking a recruit a permanent, full-time Grounds Maintenance Team Leader to head up a Grounds Maintenance Team servicing Herts, Beds, Bucks and North London.

The ideal candidate will already hold a similar supervisory position or be able to demonstrate a readiness to move into a supervisory role and be comfortable driving company vehicles within a 30 mile radius of the office. The successful applicant will be proactive, customer-focused, reliable and committed to ensuring their team continues to deliver the high standard our clients’ expect.

We are looking for a Team Leader who can run long term grounds maintenance contracts across a number of sites and who have all or some of the following:

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Practical experience of all aspects of horticulture & high end prestigious grounds maintenance.
  • Proficiency in a broad range of horticultural disciplines including but not limited to:

             all forms of grass cutting with ride on, tractor and pedestrian mower

             management of flower beds & shrubberies

             hedge cutting

             sports field maintenance

             herbicide application and weed control

             experience in the use of various plant & machinery

Personal Skills

  • Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Be able to work as part of a team or independently.
  • Be able to manage and motivate a team and work under pressure.
  • Be able to manage your own and your teams workload and work to deadlines.
  • Experience of taking ownership of a site and planning and prioritising site work plans.
  • Good timekeeping and personal presentation skills.
  • Ability to problem solve, take charge of a situation and successfully deal with the unexpected.

Health and Safety Knowledge and Experience

  • Working at Height and correct use of ladders.
  • Experience of completing risk assessments.
  • Understanding Health and Safety legislation relevant to the horticultural industry.
  • Ability to implement Health and Safety requirements to ensure safe working practices.

Other Requirements

  • Good solid plant knowledge with a formal horticultural qualification to minimum of Level 3 Certificate/Diploma.
  • 3 To 5 years’ experience in Horticulture.
  • Hold a PA1 & PA6 licence.
  • •First Aid at Work certificate.

All employees are required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

Due to accessibility of the office, all applicants must have a driving licence and their own transport.

We are looking a recruit a permanent, full-time Grounds Maintenance Assistant to work ‘hands-on’ with a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader servicing clients in Herts, Beds, Bucks and North London.

The ideal candidate will hold a horticultural qualification and be able to demonstrate a general interest in horticulture together with some skills and experience – ideally from a contractor/horticultural environment, be reliable, hard-working and diligent, a team-player and committed to ensuring the team continues to deliver the high standards our clients’ expect.

We are looking for team members who can demonstrate some or all of the following:

  • 2-3 years practical experience of garden maintenance, ideally working for high end/prestigious clients
  • A level 2 qualification in Horticulture
  • Have good plant knowledge
  • Be confident and proficient in a wide range of horticultural activities
  • Experience in using a broad range of horticultural machinery and equipment
  • Be able to follow and implement good health and safety practices to ensure safe working
  • A full UK driving licence

Any further tickets such as wood chipper, stump grinder, PA1/PA6, First Aid at Work and a Trailer Licence would enhance your application.
