Working with Schools at Hislop & Co
Hislop & Co have a strong working relationship with a number of independent schools. We understand the health & safety issues when working in an environment with children. We are also familiar with carrying out work around the school’s timetable and working with the school’s own code of conduct. All of our staff are DBS checked and attend site in modern vehicles and wearing smart, branded company uniforms at all times.
We pride ourselves that working in close partnership with each school, we can create and maintain school grounds and sports pitches that the school, pupils and parents are proud of.
Hislop & Co can manage the entire estate and sports pitches for a school, or provide specific services such as tree surgery, planting or pitch maintenance. We have experience of managing and implementing tree plans and reports plus a variety of tree surgery work ranging from dead wooding and pollarding to removing trees and tree stumps.
Our school clients tell us that not only are they impressed with the high quality and consistency of our work, but that they appreciate the friendly and professional nature of our staff. They have also highlighted our willingness to be flexible and go the extra mile to meet the needs of the school, often working ‘out of hours’. They find the high level of communication between us and them a great help to their ability to manage the school grounds as well as getting the best from one of their best assets.

We are extremely happy with the quality of the service they provide. All of their work is carried out with professionalism and attention to detail.
Their staff are knowledgeable, hardworking and courteous. In addition, their staff work alongside our own grounds team extremely effectively, and their skill and expertise complement the functions that we undertake “in house” extremely well.
I would not hesitate to recommend their services and would be happy to answer any enquiries in regard to this matter.

All members of the team were professional and considerate; in the way they both carried out the work and conducted themselves (down to taking their shoes off on entering the building). The service provided was extremely professional with a high degree of attention to detail, taking into account all aspects of health and safety.

Over the past year I have used the company to help maintain the grounds and I am extremely pleased with the service provided.
The company has at present, been engaged in the weekly cutting of lawns over the summer and the autumn leaf clearance.
I have found Hislop & Co to be extremely professional and customer focused. They are willing to offer a service to suit the customer and accommodate even the smallest request. They have an eye for detail and are conscious of providing an excellent service.
On site, I deal with a regular team, which is very reassuring as they know the site. This means they can carry out tasks with very little input from me.
Their staff have always been polite and courteous. They arrive on time, without fail, and work in very professional manner. Any changes to that pattern have always been given plenty of notice.
I feel that the staff that I deal with are a credit to Hislop & Co.
I look forward to carrying on with this working relationship as I have found it an extremely beneficial contribution to the maintenance of the school grounds.
I first met James Hislop of Hislop & Co Horticulture, two years ago in January 2015. By coincidence, we were, and had been for a while, looking for a company to assist with managing the school trees following a survey which had been completed.Bursar – Independent school – Hitchin
